JROTC Students visit Mr. Freeman

SFC Mebes was contacted by Mr. Robert Freeman in reference to his wife's recent death, Maryanne, and wanted to donate his wife's WaHi JROTC memorabilia. The couple was married for 75 years! Come to find out, his wife was part of the Sponsors Team from 1934-1938.  Back then women were not allowed in JROTC so they created the "Sponsors Team" which was taught by the JROTC instructors. Maryanne participated in Rifle and Drill Competitions. Mr. Freeman handed Mark his wife's WaHi Letter with a rifle embroidered in the middle.  Maryanne's first teaching job was at WaHi in 1940.

Upon overhearing the conversation, c/1LT Angela Lindsey volunteered to put a group of young ladies from our rifle team and JROTC to personally visit him.  Mr. Freeman's eyes lit up when the students entered the room and he was very appreciative of their visit.

Cadets in the picture are c/1LT Angelan Lindsey, c/CPT Rosylyn Duckworth, c/CPT Makayla McDole, and c/SGT Saphira Rynaski.
