Where are they now? Aaron Scott

We recently caught up with Aaron Scott, a former SEATech student and a Wa-Hi graduate.

What year did you graduate?

I graduated in 2016.

What are you doing now (career-wise)?

I currently work as a filmmaker/video editor in Walla Walla. I work mostly with Tangent Media Group and with other local companies.

What was your favorite thing about SEATech?

I think SEATech was THE favorite thing about my high school experience. But if I had to be specific, it would be both the fulfilling projects we would work on, and the collaborative environment that we had with our class. The things we would do in class just aren't done anywhere else in high school. We worked on stuff like short films, mock radio shows, mock commercials, and animations. The list goes on. Our class really was a tight-knit group of creative students, and there were times when we would just sit down and just share ideas.

How did SEATech prepare you for your post-secondary plans?

I think the opportunities I got from SEATech really shaped me into the person I am today. After I graduated in 2016, I had the opportunity to help students in one of SEATech's summer classes: Filmmaker's Bootcamp. In that class, we would make film festival-ready short films in around 3 weeks. From then on, I would help every summer until 2022. Many of those pieces became a big part of my portfolio, gave me crucial narrative film experience, and allowed me to gain even more skills to pursue bigger clients. SEATech also just taught me confidence in how to approach clients, pitch ideas, and it just taught me how to be a better communicator. The field that I am in is all about communication, whether it's your audience, your clients, or just your peers, so learning that from the class was especially beneficial. I still think that no other program has prepared me as much as SEATech has towards pursuing my dreams and finding a career that I not only enjoy but I feel that I am proficient in.
