SEATech manufacturing students thrive in Core Plus Aerospace
Advanced Manufacturing and Welding Technology provides students with preparatory training relevant to multiple professional pathways in the skilled trades. SEATech students pursue post-secondary studies at Walla Walla Community College or other Carer and Technical Colleges. Some students will enter the workforce directly after high school and take advantage of on-the-job training, or enroll in apprenticeship programs. Students who leverage their training in this program, have an opportunity to earn high wages in high-demand sectors of our industry.
Many Advanced Manufacturing and Welding Technology students who have completed SEATech's program are currently advancing in careers that contribute to our local and regional economy as one of the top contributing sectors. In 2021, the manufacturing industry contributed the largest portion of Walla Walla County's gross domestic product (GDP) according to Chmura Economics & Analytics (2022). Former students are currently working in aerospace for Boeing, for local manufacturing companies, and former students have even pursued careers in underwater welding.
A recent economic impact study by Western Washington University's Center for Economic and Business Research Department (2021) found that SEATech Skills Center creates an estimated 20 jobs and $1.7 million in value added to the local economy. Advanced Manufacturing and Welding Technology, along with Health Science Careers (Pre-Nursing), Criminal Justice, Construction Technology, and Careers in Media & Entertainment, collectively contribute to preparing our next generation of professionals at SEATech.
