February - Career and Technical Education (CTE) Month

February was Career & Technical Education Month, and our CTE Department’s mission across Walla Walla Public Schools is to prepare students—through relevant instruction and hands-on learning—to excel in technical careers, to engage in their communities, and to be lifelong learners. We are proud to offer our students access to career-connected learning opportunities through nearly 70 classes or programs across the district. We have 20 CTE courses that offer college credit. Many programs also offer students the opportunity to earn certifications and qualifications that employers are looking for.

After graduation, our students will enroll in technical colleges, 2-year colleges, and universities. We have graduates who will be employed directly out of high school and earn while they learn (i.e. through apprenticeship). Some of our students will proudly serve in the Military. Regardless of their career path, please help us honor the hard work of our students and staff, with the support of our community, to work toward our vision of Developing Washington’s Most Sought after Graduates.

We celebrated CTE month as a reminder to highlight the incredible learning and efforts that these programs include. It is important to honor the work of CTE educators and the critical role these programs play in students’ lives and our communities.
