Robotics Competition

The Garrison Robotics Team, “Cod3breakers,” took home a trophy and advanced to the semifinals in the Central South Tri-Cities FIRST® LEGO® League Challenge on Saturday, December 2, 2023.

Competing against over 20 other teams from Eastern Washington, the team earned the Robot Design Award and was selected among five other teams to advance. As part of the competition, the team also developed an outstanding innovation project that shared the group’s love of music. They built a ukulele and created a video that could be shared to show that anyone can build their own instrument.

To learn how to build the stringed instrument, the team conducted research and then engaged several expert members of the Walla Walla Community, who shared their time and talents to teach them the basics of instrument building.

Coach Mike Bertram said, “This year it was a truly collaborative effort within the community coupled with a great bunch of very committed kids. Our students practiced and performed well, and I’m so proud of them.”
