Local Students Excel in Regional FBLA Competition, Gear Up for State Showdown in April
Walla Walla, February 2, 2024 - In a dazzling display of business acumen and leadership, students from Walla Walla High School emerged victorious at the recent Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) regional competition, securing their places in the upcoming state-level showdown scheduled for April.
The FBLA regional competition, held at Columbia Basin College on February 2, witnessed a fierce battle of wits as young minds showcased their proficiency in various business-related events. Students from Walla Walla High School not only participated with zeal but also managed to clinch top positions in several categories.
With over twenty-three 1st place finishes, seventeen 2nd place finishes, and ten 3rd place finishes, the students of Walla Walla High School were definitely an aggressive group competing for a chance to prove themselves at state. Among the standout performers was senior Wyatt Jenes, who secured first place in Advertising, Economics, and Data Analysis. He demonstrated exceptional skills and knowledge, impressing others with his innovative approach and strategic thinking.
The Walla Walla High School FBLA Chapter, led by business advisors Bernard Ma, Kerry Delfino, Lori Finn, and Greg Lupfer, made a formidable impact with multiple students achieving notable successes across diverse categories such as business ethics, accounting, economics, marketing, law, and website design.
Thrilled about the outstanding performance, Mr. Ma remarked, “The dedication and hard work put in by our students truly paid off. It’s inspiring to see them excel in such a competitive environment. We are confident that they will carry this momentum into the state competition.”
The state-level FBLA competition, scheduled to take place in Spokane in April, will bring together top talents from across the state. Walla Walla High School is gearing up for the challenge, with students intensifying their preparations to represent their school and city on a larger stage.
CTE Director, Jerry Maher, expressed pride in the students’ achievements stating, “Our students have once again demonstrated their commitment to excellence. It’s a testament to their hard work and the guidance of our dedicated FBLA advisors. We wish them the best as they move on to the state competition.”
