Garrison Middle School Career Fair

Garrison Middle School hosted an 8th Grade Career Fair on Friday, November 3rd. Students were able to speak to potential employers about career opportunities while making important personal connections with them.

Each eighth grader spent several minutes with a Human Resources professional who provided an authentic feel to a mock interview. Additionally, the students were able to attend workplace expectation classes and were even taught how to fill out an application for employment. The Career Fair portion featured nearly 20 local governmental employers, local businesses, as well as non-profits.

Event organizer Mike Bertram, CTE STEM teacher at Garrison said, “It’s truly wonderful to see the community come together to support our students. In fact, many of the employers asked to be included in next year’s event.”  One student said, “I  found out that there are a lot of available jobs and volunteering options for 14-year-olds.”

Thank you, Karen Ruzicka, CTE Career & College Specialist for your support in this event. Walla Walla Public Schools is committed to establishing school and community partnerships in order to develop Washington’s most sought-after graduates.
